Established in 2010, Venn was founded by a group of tech economy entrepreneurs and stakeholders to support innovation-based economic development. Doug is the founding CEO of the company since its establishment in 2010. With a deep background in innovation policy and economic development, he is a tireless advocate for our industry and the growth of the innovation ecosystem in our region. While leading our strategic direction and stakeholder collaboration, Doug also stays closely connected to our members and partners, and is passionate about staying involved in our community.

Barbara Ells, COO
With a background in the life science industry, Barb brings a wealth of experience in scientific research, product development, product management, and marketing communications to Venn. While her primary responsibility as COO is development and delivery of business programming for our members, Barb truly is the tie that binds it all together. From client services to managing our day to day operations, Barb is at the heart of the Venn experience.

Jessica’s experiences in STEAM learning and youth engagement initiatives have given her a unique understanding of the future workforce our industry needs. Jonathan Dunnett, Program Manager, Markets and Insights
Coming from the education and business worlds, Jonathan is passionate about helping companies succeed using his experience in marketing, strategy and competitive intelligence. With his unique exposure to many industries, he is able to help a company understand where they stand and generate strategy on how to move forward. Jonathan thoroughly enjoys adding value to companies to help in the greater economic development of New Brunswick and Atlantic Canada.

MISCHKA JACOBS, COMMUNICATIONS & EVENTS COORDINATOR
Mischka joins the Venn team from Johannesburg, South Africa, by way of the University of Moncton. She completed a BA in Languages & Culture as well as an Honours Degree in French at the University of Stellenbosch. Following teaching experiences in South Africa and France, she realised that her passion lay elsewhere and decided to continue her studies here in Canada. Passionate about people and storytelling, she keeps Venn’s community and culture in the forefront.

Alicia Grayeb, Program manager, startup services
Alicia brings a diverse experience working with startups and young entrepreneurs in Mexico and a rich background in sustainability. She’ll be leading the next stage of development of our Venn Garage and building on and developing our networks and relationships - all to cultivate tech entrepreneurship in New Brunswick.
Alicia Ismach, Entrepreneur-in-residence
Alicia brings a wealth of global experience as a serial fintech entrepreneur and successful startup founder. A member of the Technology Committee of the Electronic Transactions Association, Alicia has been developing solutions for financial institutions and the payments industry for over 15 years. She was a Co-Director of the Founder Institute in Tel Aviv, and the founder of Founders Café, an international organization of founders, helping each other at informal meet and greet events.
